Hello and welcome,

Dizziness and vertigo while standing is highly probably orthostatic hypotension.
Yes, peripheral neuropathy may cause orthostatic hypotension. It usually happens in advanced peripheral neuropathy (in polyneuropathies) when autonomic nerve fibers get affected. To diagnose orthostatic hypotension your doctor will check your blood pressure and heart rate at sitting and standing position and may order tilt-table test. You may also need specific tests according to your physical findings results.
You may try life-style modifications which include increasing fluid intake rich in sodium and potassium, decrease alcohol if you drink, avoid situations that trigger symptoms, such as standing up from seated position fast or standing for long periods. If the life style changes do not work you may be prescribed fludrocortisone (increases blood volume) or midodrine (vasopressor antihypotensive medicine) to normalize blood pressure.

I hope the above information will be helpful for you. Please, feel free to ask me if there is anything else you need to know.

Thank you,
Malik Amonov MD
