What Causes Episodes Of Tachycardia While Sitting Or Lying Down?

My son has episodes tachycardia that occur when has been sitting or laying down for an hour or longer. The school nurse has recorded heart rates as high as 165 beats per minute during these episodes. I can find all kinds of information on tachycardia when standing...not laying down or resting. It often wakes him up at night. Our blood work is coming back normal.

Hi,

Usually, heart rate may increase while standing position to compensate for decreased blood pressure on standing. How old is your son? Since when he is feeling like this.

Anxiety neurosis, hyperthyroidism or anaemia may also present like this.
Avoid caffeinated drinks, brain stimulant medication. Do yoga regularly.

If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
