What Causes Episodes Of Tremor In Hands And Redness Of Face?

I get these spells every so often, I wonder if its related to caffeine or blood pressure swings. I only drink home made folgers classic roast with some French vanilla creamer, non of that diesel fuel fancy coffee like starbucks or exotic stuff. I have decreased my overall caffeine consumption a lot. Today I had about two travel mugs vs one of coffee in the morning. Symptoms will be all of a sudden and only last for a few minutes when trying to write or handle gentle objects with hands fingers and hands begin to shake or tremor. Not unstoppable shaking but minor not violent in hands when trying to do fine motor skill type work. Nothing else shakes. Face also turns red (ears, cheeks below eye socket, and nose). Don t really get a hot flash so to speak, but usually feel warm. Just have an uneasy feeling but not dizziness or nausea. Will happen every once in a while after I drink a big slug of coffee in the morning, and today happened about 2 hours after lunch. Had a 12 oz can of Coke Cola with a deli sandwich. I am a bit overweight, all my last check ups and labs were real good though. Cholesterol was good, Blood pressure was real good 118/ 80ish Lab work had nothing that indicated diabetes, sugar good levels, etc... It s weird and not real trend that I can identify other than maybe the caffeine.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Get your thyroid function checked is my first advice to you. hyperthyroidism can cause benign tremors and warmth in the face so we do have one possibility.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
