What Causes Erectile Dysfunction Post Vasectomy?

Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here... My boyfriend had a vasectomy preformed 10 days ago and tried to have sex for the first time today and couldn t get an erection. Is this normal? He still has stitches and I m wondering if it could be just in his mind, maybe he is just kind of scared that it will hurt. Could this be what happened?

Hello. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
It’s very unlikely that the problem is related to the vasectomy surgery. For most men, erectile dysfunction (ED) after a vasectomy is not caused by the procedure itself. But there could be other causes. The main cause could be your friends anxiety and trauma related to the surgical procedure. He could be worried, stress and anxious about the effects of the surgery. those could be the cause. He could do with reassurances from the surgeon.
Hope I have answered your query. You can contact me for treatment options. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. K. V. Anand
