What Causes Eustachian Tube Dysfunction In The Right Ear?

My 17yr old daughter has been having issues with a right ear...the ENT told her that it is a eustation tube dysfunction but its very bothersome for her. Says her voice sounds funny when she talks and she cannot get it to pop. Seems to happen a lot after running...can chiropractic care help with this?

Hello,

The most common cause of eustachian tube dysfunction is its inflammation and mucus build-up due to cold, allergies, flu or sinus infection.

So far as the treatment is concerned, usually taking a decongestant nasal spray and antihistaminics cures eustachian tube dysfunction.

But if it persists you may have to consult an ENT surgeon who may consider making a tiny incision in the eardrum and suctioning out the fluid in the middle ear in severe cases.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
