What Causes Excess Burps After Eating?

Had sleeve surgery 6 wks ago. After eating every tiny meal, especially dinner, I literally burp 50-60 times. It is really embarrassing as I have to remove myself from table. We are spending time at our sons house for birth of our 1st grandchild along with her parents & I feel anti social. On Prilosec in morning. Will this ever go away?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think the burping may be related to gastritis or inflammation of the stomach lining. This is possibly causing the burping. I believe that taking Prilosec can be helpful but you can use antiacids such Maalox too. Eat smaller amounts of food often.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
