Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My daughter sleeps a lot...I mean she can not seem to get up..she is a senior in college and has been healthy up til now...we have gone to the doctors and had blood work done which came back normal....but she is having a tough time functioning and after she gets up she is still exhausted. Any suggestions?
As per your query your daughter has problem of excess sleep ,which is also known as hypersomnia and tiredness when dhe get up . Well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to many reasons like obstructive sleep apnea , Prescription drugs, such as tranquilizers or antihistamines , depression , head injury or a neurological disease . I would suggest you to consult general practitioner and get her diagnosed properly . Doctor may recommend sleep study in which an instrument is tired to a person for whole night during sleep for studying sleeping pattern , if there is probelm related to sleeping apnea then doctor will recommend C-PAP machine . Doctor may also refer you to neurologist . For now ask her to do do light exercises daily and drink hot milkbefore going to sleep .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
