What Causes Excess Sleepiness And Fainting In A 13 Year Old?
I have a 13 yr old son who in the last month has been full of energy like a normal teenage boy he is in basketball and loves life! but in the last month he has been active and in a split second was sleepy to where he will just fall asleep! he was sick with a cold last week and I have taken him to the doctor for that and told her what was happening! 3wks ago he almost passed out at school! I am worried just looking for what these systoms mean. because no one seems to know what is going on with my son!
The sleep excess and fainting at school with sudden onset of symptoms particularly after therapy of cold suggests that there is side effect of medications as diphenhydramine, cetrizine or else used to treat the flu on symptomatic basis. It is requested to stop all doses of current therapy for further time periods and report to doc office.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
