What Causes Excessive Burping After Consuming Alcohol?
Hi, I am a 21 year old female who drinks on occasion. Nothing too crazy just a couple nights out of the month. Last night I drank quite a bit and everything seemed fine till I woke up 3 hours after going to sleep with an insatiable urge to burp. I have managed to burp several times since then but the pressure hasn t subsided. Should I be concerned?
Excessive burping after alcohol intake results due to corroding/irritation of the stomach epithelium(lining). The corroded lining gets exposed to acids that cause nausea-vomiting, bloating, burping.
Avoid taking alcohol in amounts your system can't tolerate.
Never take it in empty stomach. Take antacids(Rantac-150), once twice daily PPI's(Pantoprazole-40), once daily, gastric enzymes, under a physician. Take probiotics, stay away from addictions & junk food.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Nupur K, General & Family Physician
