What Causes Excessive Hunger, Nausea And Diarrhea?
I am a 53 year old female. My belly is bloated, has been for a few weeks. I also experience hunger and nausea at the same time. When I eat, it makes me more uncomfortable. I feel better all curled up than straight laying or standing. I have diarrhea frequently. My belly feels huge, like there s no room for anything, even if I wanted to eat. Could this be an ulcer?
A peptic ulcer can cause some of your symptoms. It is worth to try and get Omeprazole 40 mg 30 minutes before breakfast for some days and notice if there is an improvement with it. Meanwhile, try to eat 4-5 small meals during the day and avoid coffee, smoking, alcohol, spicy food, greasy food and any food that makes your symptoms worse.
If you notice improvement with Omeprazole then it is highly possible that a peptic ulcer was the cause of your symptoms and you may need to take Omeprazole for around 4 weeks. If you do not notice any improvement with Omeprazole then tests should be done such as an abdominal ultrasoundupper endoscopy and possibly stool tests and colonoscopy.
I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General and Family Physician
