Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Excessive Liquid Drainage From A Broken Blister?
AMy husband has a blister the size of a 50cent piece and it burst early this evening and about 8m inches at the bottom of his trousers and his left slipper are soaking wet. This happened when he was recovering from pneumonia in April and then we had nurses around. He is 91 years old, but functions well except for walking without a walker. His leg And foot are swollen. I put neosporin on thr wound, put a gauge pad on, and wrapped it with gauze. It is the weekend and I m just worried about where all the liquid is coming from.
There can be a discharge from the wound, however, if the discharge is excessive a clinical assessment is required. Neosporin will help to control infection. I suggest you to consult your primary healthcare provider for clinical assessment of wound.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
