What Causes Excessive Mucus In Throat After Tonsils And Adenoids Removal?
I had my tonsils and adenoids removed 4 days ago and I m 22. I m having a lot of mucus in the back of my throat. I try to spit it out but it seems stuck back there. Is there anything I can do to get rid of it? It s what is really the most uncomfortable for me right now.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain excess mucous build up in throat after tonsillectomy can be either due to inflammation and irritation in throat post surgery or can be due to bacterial or viral infection in throat. Nothing to worry, you should consult your treating surgeon and get evaluated and in case of throat infection he can advise you to take antibiotics like Augmentin or Azithromycin and anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen. Warm saline gargles and using a humidifier in your room can also be advised.. in case of discomfort the doctor can also use a suction machine to remove excess mucous from throat..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
