What Causes Excessive Mucus In Throat With Something Stuck Feeling?
About a week ago I came down with what I think was a severe sinus infection. Everything went away, except for what seems like excessive mucus in my throat and a weird sensation like something is stuff in my throat (the placement seems to move form one side of my throat to the other, and occassionally seems to be accompanied by ear aches on the same side). As long as I take Mucinex I seem fine, but as soon as I miss a dose it seems like lump, etc come back. Thanks.
Noted your history suggestive of sinusitis which settled but excessive mucus remains and there is feeling of something is stuck in throat. This surely indicates towards edema of the pharyngeal mucosa and lymphoid hyperplasia that gives sensation of something stuck in throat. Thick mucus is difficult to remove and thus gives the feeling. I would advise you the following in such a situation: Consult your Doctor for examination of throat to know the exact problem and get started on additional anti-inflammatory, mucolytic treatment. Antibiotic if there is any evidence of infection on examination or blood report. Povidone iodine gargles helps a lot.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
