What Causes Excessive Nasal Drainage Along With Wet Cough And Congestion?

For the past four days I have had this "wet cough" and constant excessive mucus nasal drainage..Texture of mucus whether I cough it up and spit out or nasal mucus..Texture is very very thick... I have never had this kinda multi symptom like this.. My head is hurting all day every day no matter what I take. Bend over fwd and pressure builds to hurt so severe, I refuse to bend down for anything or anyone..

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of excessive nasal drainage along with wet cough and congestion which seems to be due to allergies, hay fever, nasal polyps, chemical exposures, chronic sinusitis, tumors and a deviated septum. Need not to worry much. You should apply warm compresses on nose , keep your head elevated while sleeping, take steam and take benadryl twice a day. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination . Doctor may order CT scan , nasal endoscopy , viral culture test and blood tests . Doctor may prescribe antibacterial or antiviral depending upon the diagnosis along with decongestant or expectorant . Doctor may also prescribe anti allergic or recommend surgery in case of deviated nasal septum or nasal polyp.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
