Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello; I have 3 confusing issues. 1) it seems I have an excess amount of phlegm in my throat and I am constantly clearing my throat, nothing comes up. Along with this, my voice always sounds hoarse. 2) I have this constant burning feeling in my mouth. Feeling like I ate that first piece of pizza too quickly and burnt my entire mouth with the hot cheese. Food I had no problem eating in the past is like fire in my mouth now. 3) When I swallow any amount of food, any texture, right at wear my Adam's apple would be (I'm not sure if I have an Adam's apple), it feels like the food has to pass over a lump. the lump feels like it takes up half the size of my esophagus.
Your symptoms can be probably due to Acid reflux or Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease.. Due to reflux of the acid to throat and mouth there can be inflammation and burning sensation in throat, lump like feeling, burning sensation in chest and mouth with excess mucous formation..
So first of all consult an Emergency room and get evaluated.. A clinical examination and endoscopy can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
As of now take antacids like milk of magnesia half an hour before meals.. Gargle with Lidocaine/xylocaine containing mouthwash.. Take soft and bland foods..
Hope this helps..
Regards .
