Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
For the past week I have been having extreme salivation at night time and only night time. To the point where I ve choked on my excess saliva while sleeping. I ve had a cough this week but nothing else has changed ie diet. Please let me know if there is anything to do about this.
It is possible that it may be related to reflux even if you do not have typical reflux symptoms.
Reflux is associated with increased salivation and symptoms tend to be worse at night or in some cases, early morning.
You can consider the use of reflux medication to see if this helps eg nexium, prilosec, prevacid to see if one of these would help. It can take 5 to 7 days, in some cases, for these meds to kick in
I hope this helps
