What Causes Excessive Sweating At Night And Severe Anxiety?

Hello, I am a 33yr old female. I have had a partial hysterectomy (2009) my Gallbladder removed (2004) three pregnancies, two live births with an 8wk miscarriage. I also have a history of Migraines (remember since 9yrs old) depression without suicide thoughts, severe anxiety disorder (several years) , I also have a dictated note of "mild cardiac edema" (2006), I'm a recovered drug addict (meth & pills) clean since 2004. Within the last 4-5 months I have started having severe sweating, mostly at night. I wake soaked from my hair to my knees, flushed and anxious. I had my doctor run a complete blood panel, including cbcs, B-12, everything we could think of and everything came back normal...We are both at a loss as to what else it could be, do you have any ideas or give me any recommendations as which way to go next.

Hi, thanks for asking from HCM

I can understand your concern. You have Depressive disorder without suicidal thoughts, severe anxiety disorder and now have complaints of excessive sweating, anxiety and flushing in night. All investigations like Complete blood count, B12 came normal.

These symptoms could be occurring due to anxiety but some medical causes like thyroid dysfunction should be removed. Hyperthyroidism might cause similar symptoms like sweating in night, severe anxiety and palpitations. If thyroid functions come normal and your B12 is already normal so most likely cause of your symptoms is severe anxiety only.

Please talk to your doctor and take proper treatment of anxiety. Drugs like SSRIs like Escitalopram, Citalopram, Fluoxetine etc are commonly used in anxiety. These drugs will control your anxiety symptoms. Propranolol or low dose Klonopin can help in reducing the symptoms you are having.

Talk to a doctor for prescription of these drugs.

Thanks. Take care
