What Causes Excessive Sweating On The Face And Neck?

Hello I am a 61 year old woman: I experience excessive sweating every morning, usually after I have showered. It is particularly marked on my face and throat area. I also experience same when in a warm room: it seems I have lost the ability to regulate my body temperature. It is distressing and debilitating. I can put on makeup to go out and find that within 5 minutes it is all sliding off! It seems that all symptoms like this are written off as menopausal but It has been going on for a few years now and shows no sign of abating. I am on no medication, only multi vitamins. I drink lots of water, never leave home without a bottle. i drink very little alcohol- a glass of wine with a meal every now and again, not even daily. I would say that I eat a healthy diet, with veg and fruit every day. I am loathe to go for yet another blood test since nothing untoward has ever shown up. Any thoughts please?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Sweating is a normal reaction when your body's working harder and needs to cool itself down. Overweight is one of the causes of excessive sweating. Have you checked your thyroid??
Advice
1.     Investigation – blood sugar (F & PP), serum T4 and TSH
2.     Measure your blood pressure regularly
3.     Avoid stress as it aggravates sweating
4.     If you are overweight then lose some weights
5.     Avoid hot environment and strenuous activity
6.     Wear loose cotton undergarment
7.     Drink 4 – 5 liters of water daily
8.     Use dusting powder containing ketoconazole or fluconazole
9.     Take bath two times daily and use branded soap for bathing
10.     Avoid smoking, tea and coffee as these aggravates sweating

I hope this information will help you. I will be happy if you ask another question
