What Causes Excessive Sweating?

I broke into a sweat while sleeping two nights ago and I have smelled salty or like ham since then. Showering help (of course) but the scent is lingering. I noticed a slight odor before going to sleep but it was worse after breaking into a sweat. Any information?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello! Welcome to HealthcareMagic!

I understand your concern.
There are many reasons that cause excessive sweating.
I want to ask if you are a male or a female?
Do you have already a chronic disease?
Do you take medications?
Some of the reasons can be:

1) Thyroid problems.
2) Diabetes.
3) Infectious diseases.
4) Blood diseases.
5) Some medications
6) Anxiety etc.

I suggest you to go to a local doctor for a physical examination and other examinations to find the cause.

Hope my answer was helpful. If you have any other question Ill be glad to help.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
