What Causes Excessive Swelling, Redness And Tightness In Hand?
My husband thinks he got a mesquite thorn prick on Thursday. His hand has swollen to twice the size and it is moving up his arm. No fever. Slight redness and warmth. No pus or drainage. We have been using triple antibiotic cream, Benadryl and Motrin. It is not painful just tight from the swelling. Should he go to urgent care or give the Benadryl more time. He has been taking Benadryl for almost 24 hrs. 50 mg every 6 hours.

I advise you to get the CBC and ESR examination done..and take tab ibuprofen and hot plates to reduce the swelling, also use antihistaminic DIO-1 to prevent itching and irritation..if problem persists consult once and get it examined.
