What Causes Excessive Thirst And Frequent Urination?

Hi, I m trying to figure the cause of a few symptoms I experience: I have a parched mouth and am always thirsty and go to the bathroom frequently. I poor circulation to my hands and feet- they ll be dry or cold and clammy. I often feel like I have low energy and have struggled with depression. I was a college athlete, am young fit and reasonably healthy. Should I see a doctor for these?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Based on your description of symptoms, I would suggest that you need to rule out diabetes first.

Kindly get your blood checked up for the following:

1. Fasting plasma glucose - 8 to 10 hours of overnight fast.
2. Post-prandial plasma glucose - 1.5 - 2 hours after having breakfast.
3. Glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c).

Kindly consult Physician with report for clinical evaluation and appropriate management.

Hope the information provided helps.
All the best.
Regards,
Dr.Ashakiran.S.
