What Causes Excessive Thirst When Suffering From Diabetes?
I have been really thirsty for the last few weeks, drinking more than ususal. My daughter, who has type 1 diabetes, stopped by and we check my blood sugar level. This morning shortly after drinking a cup of coffee, with sugar and creamer, I registed at 396. So I waited 3 1/2 hour and retested..it was 347. Should I go to the emergency room or will I be ok to wait and see my doctor on Thursday?
The excess sugar build up in your blood will be an excess load on your kidneys. kidneys are forced to work excessively. Hence kidneys excrete the sugar overload through urination , thus leaving you dehydrated and thirsty. the early symptoms of diabetes is excess urination and excess thirst. Your blood levels are way too high. Normal fasting blood sugar should be below 130mg/dl and two hours after meal should be below 180mg/dl. I hope you understand the seriousness of your sugar level. consider an immediate check up.
