What Causes Excessive Thirst While On Percocet?

I have been being treated for acute neck and back pain for 10 years. Five surgeries. Over the past two days, my hands, knee joints, lower back, hips, and virtually all joints in my body have been generating intense pain. Five mg of Percocet have not lessened the pain to any degree. I have been abnormally thirsty and have drunk about a gallon of water in the past several hours. What should I do?
