What Causes Excessive Thirst While Suffering From Poor Vision?

Vision changed from far to near sighted. Have cataracts. Surgery scheduled next week. Have been drinking excessive amounts of water and craving milk. Keeps me in the bathroom at least every hour even through the night. The vision change and fluid cravings occurred about the same time.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You may need to have your sugar checked and rule out diabetes. Diabetes Mellitus causes thirst and may also cause changes in vision as well.

The test for this is fasting blood glucose, which needs to be checked twice to confirm the diagnosis or HbA1C which shows the average sugar levels in the last three months.

I hope this answers your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
