What Causes Excessive Vaginal Discharge After A Hysterectomy?

I have had a to hysterectomy. A few months ago my husband and I had sex and started bleeding. It last a couple of days. I have had this odd grayish/white sticky discharge for the last month. It is bad enough I have to wear a pad. At night it is worse. It will run down my leg when I stand. I was tested for STI s last week. They called and said all test were negative. I am seeing an obgyn but not for a month. I m so confused.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Slight vaginal discharge is quite common after vaginal hysterectomy. It is due to local inflammation and collection following the hysterectomy. If there is excessive discharge, evaluation is required.

Consult a gynecologist and plan for an ultrasound to rule out collection. Infective causes like bacterial vaginosis also be ruled out.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Wishing you all the best.

Regards,
