What Causes Excessive Weight Gain After A Double Mastectomy?
Hi there. My sister has been diagnosed 2times with breast cancer resulting in finally a double mastectomy. Now after 5 years she is experiencing a weight gain, especially in the abdomen, constipation, intermittent nausea with vomiting during intestine, uncontrolled intermittent jerking and bilateral upper arm edema. Her balance is off.Her oncologist has told her tat her liver enzymes remain high after checking 3 times. What could explain this and where should she begin. She told me yesterday that she feels something is wrong. Thank you. A
Weight gain is common after mastectomy because of corticosteroids, these medications have a tendency to increase the fatty tissue and also cause an increase in the appetite. Mastectomy causes a trigger in menopause, causing a gain in belly fat, lose muscles in the arms and fullness in the neck and face. Lack of regular exercises and change in the hormones in the body system may also be a cause of weight gain.
Drink plenty of water, do regular exercises, take a healthy homemade food and avoid stress.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
