What Causes Excessive Weight Gain Along With Fatigue?

All my life I have been small , a year ago I took prednisone for 6weeks and gained a lot of weight and was swollen, In a year I have gained 50 pounds, I haven t been able to lose weight exercising watching calories and what I eat on fitness pal and use a pedometer to count my steps. I always feel exhausted, cold and have random black hairs growing on my neck face breast and butt cheeks. I had thyroid checked and doctor says its normal. I don t know what to do I know something is not right with my body. Any advise?
