Hi
Thanks for posting your query on HCM
I have read and understood your concern
Hypothyroidism is a possible cause of your symptoms. However, the diagnosis of this condition is not only clinical.I will advise you see the Doctor for a thyroid function tests(TSH and if necessary free T3 AND T4).Your Doctor will also have to eliminate other causes of unintentional weight gain like some medications like steroids, Cushing's syndrome, Stress and low mood, Fluid retention, Polycystic ovary syndrome ......

Also, you need to know in most cases, you gain weight when you eat more than you work, that is, energy from food is more than energy used for daily actitivitis.I will advise you adopt some physical measures to help reduce weight while waiting on your Doctor. You may try the following:
-Cut Back on Sugars and Starches
-Eat Protein, Fat and Vegetables
-Regular fitness activities
-Avoid sugary drinks and fruit juice
-Drink water a half hour before meals
-Eat soluble fiber
-Eat mostly whole, unprocessed foods
-Eat in small quantities
-Eat only when hungry
Hope this will help. You may write back if more concerns
Wish you good health
