What Causes Excessive Weight Gain While On Invega Sustenna?

My son began taking invest sustena 78mg shot 3 months ago and has gained 50 lbs. He is no longer hearing the voices in his head but when he was in high school he weighed over 300 lbs and is upset about this gain. What can he do besides diet and exercise to combat this change in his metabolism?

Hi,

As you mentioned this antipsychotic drug has a high chance of weight gain.

You have to manage the intake of food/meals so that the proper diet flows in without much weight gain. You need to divide the food into 6 to 7 meals per days more with fiber and fat content than carbohydrate.

Avoid rice, weight, junk foods and vegetables like potatoes or their processed products. Take plenty of water early in the morning and between the meals. This way you will be able to reduce his weight even on weight gaining medications.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
