What Causes Excessive Weight Loss In An Elderly Woman?

My mother is 95 and has been losing weight recently. She had a ct scan and a spot showed up. The doctor is going to wait until November and do more blood work and an mri. The doctor said it could one of four things but because of the weight loss she was leaning toward cancer.

Weight loss is nonspecific sign but in some cases it may indicate cancer especially pancreatic or liver. Also, she should do colonoscopy beside ct scan to evaluate inside colon.

I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us.
Kindly regards. Wish you a good health.
