What Causes Excessive Weight Loss While On Medication For Hepatitis C?
My brother in law just went thru the hepC medicine. Before that he found out he is diabetic. He started the hep C meds in august , he lost lost over 40 lbs before hep C meds, by cutting out high carb foods. He looks like death walking , he is in the rest room within 5 minutes after eating, he MD says he doesn t need to see a specialist. I m very concerned, he is 5 10 and weighs 117/120

In my opinion, he should definitely consult gastroenterologist. Hepatitis C infection is one of the most common cause for Cirrhosis and hepatic cell carcinoma. And both of them can cause weight loss. So consult gastroenterologist and get done clinical examination, ultrasound examination, CT Abdomen, upper GI (gastrointestinal) scopy and other tumour markers.
