What Causes Excessive Weight Loss While Suffering From Type 2 Diabetes?
My son is 19 years old. He has type 2 diabetes. He moved back in a few days ago. He has lost a lot of weight. He told us it was because he had not been eating right but he was fine. We made him test and found his sugar was high. We had some medication here (Metformin) so we made him start taking it. I went to the pharmacy to try to get a refill and found it had expired. I called the doctor today but since he is over 18 they would not tell me anything. However, I contacted the pharmacy and only was able to access that he was given insulin (because I asked if it had refills as if I already knew) and have now found out that he was put back on insulin in July and never picked it up. So we now know he has not taken his insulin for 7 months, has extreme weight loss, urinates and drinks water excessively and his sugar is above 300. What should I do? Noone will help me because he is an adult and must do it himself.
