What Causes Excruciating Menstrual Cramps?

Hi I woke up at 2am with excruciating menstrual cramps. Took 2 midol, 2 turmeric pills, 2 hot baths and nothing is helping..I feel very nauseas. My bleeding is very light which is surprising since I m in this much pain..and I accidentally wore 2 tampons yesterday for almost 4hrs until I realized what I d done. Thinking that may have something to do with the cramps being this bad. Wanted to know if I should go to the emergency room or suffer through?

Thanks for the query.
The swvre pain (if it is not regular during menses for you) can be due to-
- The presdure&trauma to vagina while the bulk of tampoons was thrusted in.This should respond by NSAID like Ibuprofen over the counter tqice a day after food along with rest &fomentation externally .
In case of 8nfection.. you may need antubiotic .
-In child bearing age.. such abnormal pain with scantybleedcould be due to tubal prwgnancy.USG pelvis would diagnose it.
*In case you don't get relief In two days with home care OR the symptoms get unbearable...you should rush to your gynecologist (or to ER if you don't have appointment) for needful investigations &specific treatment.
