What Causes Excruciating Pain In The Ear Due To Infection?

Hi, my son was prescribed ciprodex ear drops as well as an oral antibiotic for an ear infection. He is 11 yrs old and screams about the pain from these ear drops. I have given him ciprodex for 3 days and the pain becomes excruciating for about an hour after the drops. Is this normal?

Hello

No it is not normal and i would like you to stop the ear drops and meet your ent doctor again. It is likely that he is allergic to either the drug or the preservative used in the medication. Please do not use the drops again. take care!
