What Causes Extreme Abusive And Aggressive Behaviour In A Child?

Hi, my 9 year old son bites his nails to the quick and draws blood. Lately he s also been biting his cheeks drawing blood. He is a very anxious child and is continually frustrated by trying to be perfect and not succeeding. His behaviour is extreme at times - swearing, abusive and threatening violence. I am very worried about him.

Hello,

Your son needs a quick evaluation with a pediatric psychiatrist (a psychiatrist that is specialized in caring for children). A psychotherapist should be involved as well.
A good treatment plan should be decided with psychotherapy to understand why the child is having these behaviors and how to help him handle the stress. Medications may be needed as well, but this will be decided after a good evaluation of the child.

I hope this answers your query.
I remain at your disposal for further medical assistance.

Regards,
