Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Male, 28 years old. Fell and cut his leg. Just an average laceration nothing I normally would be concerned about. It wouldn t stop bleeding and he ended up in emergency and having a transfusion. Whats wrong with him? Also, I think he goes to dialysis.
As per the problems discussed above it looks like the male patient might be having some underlying bleeding disorder like deficient clotting mechanisms due to lack of clotting factors, clotting proteins, etc. Due to absence of an effective clot formation following a trivial injury like small cut he had to bleed to the extent of getting the blood transfusion, really it is a matter of concern! He should undergo the coagulation profile (laboratory tests done to detect the clotting problems) and should seek the opinion of GP for further management. Hope to clarify the problem of your patient. Regards!
