What Causes Extreme Euphoria?

Hi. ok. so ,,,, this has been intermittently wracking my brain for a little while. No periods of depression or being upset for no reason at all, no problems sleeping, but I have really happy periods - seriously - extremely happy. Some people treat me as though I should be upset or abruptly act negatively for no reason because of some trials that I had to get through,, but,,,,, I don t see the point,,, again,,, just happy, content or extremely happy,, no meds. Is there a diagnosis for this?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The issue sounds to be related to hyperfunctioning of pleasure center in the brain with neurologic circuit disturbances through excess of serotonin and other amines.

Here I would like to separate out the euphoria and extreme happiness as 2 very distinct entities and should be evaluated thoroughly with clinical judgment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Purva Patel,
