Thank you for your query
Yes, it is possible that it could be a
kidney stone.
Stones can be found anywhere along the urinary tract- kidney (usually painless unless it gets infected causing
severe pain and fever due to
pyelonephritis)
- ureters (the tunes on either side that drain urine from the kidney to the bladder). These can be very painful as the stones(depending on the size) literally wiggle through its narrow lumen. Your symptoms fall under this. These stones, sometimes, completely obstruct flow of urine which stagnates in the kidney, enlarging it causing pain and damage to the kidney.
-bladder- usually with sudden relief of pain once the stone enter the bladder.
You are on the right track. Drinking water and adequate hydration will help flush out the stone and dilute the urine to prevent further stone formation.
I recommend you visit your doctor asap, for pain management and to locate the stone and rule out complications
If, however, you have
high fever, obvious blood in the urinary, pain that increases or is too severe, visit the ER right away. Avoid
self medication as this may mask your symptoms and underlying problems.
