What Causes Extreme Pain In Leg After Fixing Metal Plates Around Knee?
7 months ago I got 2 metal plates put around my crushed knee with 10 screws. One outer leg plate is almost a foot long the inner one is about 4 inches long, I am still in a lot of pain especially when I put all my weight on the leg and try to walk normally, the outer plate feels like it wants to pop out when I walk. The pain wakes me up, I m in pain all the time mostly around the metal plates and screws. Is this normal? Should I have the plates removed? My surgeon says it is all healed and everything looks great on the X-ray. But I can t live with this pain the rest of my life!
Thanks for posting your query to HCM . Pain in artificial implants are usually persist for a long time .Even if Healing seen on x ray the complete internal healing require lot of time to get completed . But dont worry as pain will be relieved but it will take times. you need to do one thing to consult Physiotherapy clinic for doing exercises to improve your muscle strengths and regain normal limb movement .this measure will also help in decreasing pain . Plaes and screw can be removed when you will get recovered completely or your orthopedic surgeon feel it suitable . take care .
