What Causes Extreme Pain In Neck And Shoulders?

Hi My mother has a prolapsed disc C5/6, and has had surgery. I have recently had extreme pain in my neck and shoulder, inability to turn my head fully and pain and numbness radiating down my arm with numb ring and little fingers. I am 25, 135 pounds and 5'8". I'm worried it could be the same thing. I have been on depo provera for nearly eight years, could the associated risk of loss of bone density be a risk factor in disc problems?Thank you
