What Causes Extreme Pain In The Knee Joints?

My husband is on Pradaxa, JampK, toloxin, teva-spironolactone,ramipril, metoprolol zarozolyn & apo-furosemide since having established heart problems in april 2013. During the past month he is now encountering extreme pain in the knee joint however so visible signs of swelling. Could this be a result of some or all of the medication he is taking.
