What Causes Extreme Pain In The Ribs With Mild Nausea?
It feels like someone has put a vice around my ribs and squeezed. It is very painful all over but particularly painful on the right hand side. I also feel slightly nauseous. The pain is about 8 1/2 on the pain scale. It is. Aiding me to cry. I took a 11 hour Alec's about 5 hours ago and the pain is back with a vengeance. I just took a 500 mgTylenol. It is starting to help slightly but I am still in a lot of pain. I am a 70 year old woman.
Here you can have costochondritis like presentation or there might be rib fracture as you are having severe rib pain. History and examination regarding jaundice, fever, abdominal pain and tenderness, cough also should be elicited.
Your CBC can be done along with x-ray for primary work up If no specific cause found and if it is musculoskeletal pain than ibuprofen can be prescribed for relieving inflammation. Hot compress can be useful. Avoid strenuous work. Consult physician or pulmonologoist for examination and further work up accordingly if needed.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
