What Causes Extreme Pressure In Head Leading To Dizziness?

Hi I have been suffering from extreme pressure in the brain while sleeping for the past month I can t decide weather I am asleep or awake and can forget about it happening but then remember the pressure feels like something in my head is going to burst it starts out less extreme and builds up until there s a ringing in my ears and it feels like my head will explode then it slowly goes back down to nothing it can happen two to three times in a row then goes away I think I might be suffering from this while sleeping but aware of what s going on when I am fully awake I don t have any of these symptoms although I get dizzy now and again and also loss the feeling in my hands and legs sometimes any help would be appreciated

Hi Dear,

Welcome to Health Care Magic Team.

Understanding your concern.

As you describe your condition in query extreme pressure and dizziness you are experiencing could be because of vast number of medical conditions , But the symptoms like ringing bells in ear ,dizziness and pressure in head are pointing towards a condition known as ACOUSTIC NEUROMA .

ACOUSTIC NEUROMA in a noncancerous growth on the vestibulocochlear nerve present in middle ear which help us with hearing and balancing body ,this growth of extra tissue compresses the nerve which produce symptoms like dizziness or vertigo and ringing bells .

It could be possible that excess growth of tissue also exert pressure on the brain which leads to pressure in head like symptom .

But we can not rule out other conditions like Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo,Arteriosclerosis of arteries supplies to brain ,brain tumor ,brain abscess and sinusitis until various tests like MRI,CT scan and ENG will be performed and diagnosed by specialist properly .

So i would suggest to immediately consult ENT specialist (ear ,nose and throat) first and then consult neuro surgeon if needed .Do not ignore it.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
