What Causes Extreme Sensitivity To Light?

Hi, I have been experiencing extreme sensitivity to light recently... and find myself needing dark sunglasses inside and I will still squint behind them... I've also experienced headaches in my temples, but they do not occur every time I experience the light sensitivity... Can you please tell me what it could be or if I should see my GP or the eye doctor?
