What Causes Extreme Snoring Followed By Headaches?

My husband has snored for years, stops breathing during the night, grunts, flails his body and often wakes up with headaches......I, most of the time end up with my sleep interrupted and sleep in another room to which I can still hear him,......not good for either of our nightly sleep or our marriage, he uses snore stop spray and is now trying the pills......he still snores nightly. I really need him to see someone about this but he says he won t wear a big contraption on his face to go to sleep ! What do you recommend that s small , not noisy and helps. Thank you

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have extreme snoring followed by headaches . The symptoms you mention in query can occur due to sleep apnea .Well i would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper evaluation of report ,without any delay because sleep apnea sometimes leads to heart attack . Doctor may order sleep study and recommend CPAP machine to correct the problem and reviewing the results . I would suggest you to

- Along with CPAP machine your should do light exercises.

- Also use humidifier along with CPAP machine , which will mosite the air and prevent the mucosa from drying .

- Control your diet and lose some weight.

- Start do light exercises like yoga and meditation.

- Try on sleep on side .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
