What Causes Extreme Weight Gain With Strange Sensation In Right Side?

I had had a strange feeling in my right side and back for six months. there is no pain and when I lie down the sensation seems to go. on getting up there it is. sometimes its felt around the tummy are. I am a 56 male of average height and build. I was worried and got examined by my doctor about 4 months ago and she coulnt find anything unusual. I had an emergency colostomy in2001 which was reversed so there is apparently a lot of scar tissue,and I have put on about a stone over the last 18 months. Could it be just fat ? There is no tenderness when touched. Obviously worried about cancer.
