What Causes Extremely Dry Area With Small Bumps Around The Labia And Itchy Vagina?

My Labia and around my thighs has been extremely dry. I shave often and stopped because my doctor asked me to. He said my vagina is irritated. However, its swollen by my labia which turned a pale color and got hard and looks sort of like elephant skin with cracks. I m 21. Never had sexual intercourse. Is it my estrogen? All of my skin is very very dry. I ve been taking flgyl but its not done much. I have no moisture in my vaginal area what so ever. What is happening? Would it have been my razors? Is it nickle allergy? I started getting little blisters around my hands and fingers and my skin is itchy and dry and it seems like i have goosebump-like itchy bumps. My vagina was very very itchy for a week and half and recently stopped when I stopped shaving and let my pubic hair grow. Still, i have these goosebump like bumps that itch and my skin seems to be extremely sensative to any objects it touches and even the sun, sweat and heat. Whats happening?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Stop using razors, creams or waxing to remove the pubic hair for a couple of days. Avoid douches, perfumed soaps or deodorants.

You can take antihistamines, Levocetirizine to get relief from an allergy.

Apply Hydrocortisone cream on the affected area to get rid of the itching. Take a course of antifungals (fluconazole) orally after getting physically examined by a gynecologist.

Do not share your toiletries or clothing/bedding. Take care of your hygiene. To be on the safer side your treating doctor may tell you to do STD test, get it done.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
