What Causes Eye Floaters And Flashes?

Two days ago, following some significant shiny floaters in my left eye, I began to experience some dots and squiggly lines that appeared to me to be blood. It has mostly dispersed now, leaving me looking through a haze with a couple of denser floating spots. In the mirror, my eye doesn t look bad, just slightly reddish around the outside edges. Will this gradually mend itself or should I see a specialist? Is it safe to fly in this condition?
