What Causes Eye Floaters In The Line Of Vision?

I have just noticed(only at night where it's dark) that out of the corner of my left eye I see narrow streamers of light...when I turn to catch them, they disappear...but if I go into dark, I can see them intermittently..I hit my right eye on a bookcase a couple of weeks ago and it has happened since then...

It is after images and mainly illusion and hallucination. Consult the eye doctor and get your eye examined. Refraction and fundus examination should be done.
