What Causes Eye Infections?

Hi, My eyes got itcy and also got reddish since last two days. Also, when I wake up in the morning my both the eyelids are hard to open. I use the warm water, gently message them then I was able to open it. With this condition is it good to seat in from of computer for 9 hrs. In addition, is this infectious. How I got this in my eyes, I am asking this so that from next time I can take some protection. I started wearing a new go-gals, does it happen because of that.

Welcome to HCM.I can understand your concern.

As per your history it seems most probably Viral Conjunctivitis. which may takes 2 -3 weeks to completely recover. It usually spread from contact of eye water of other having same infection. there is no instant cure for it, all we can do is prevent secondary bacterial infection with reducing drying of eyes & reduce some pain. As per its course it may increase pain for few days & difficulties in computer screen vision. You may take rest for few days from office.

Apply REFRESH EYE DROPS 1-2 drops every 2 hourly.
Apply MILFLOX EYE DROPS 1-2 drops four times a day.
Apply GENTEAL 0.3% GEL before sleep at bedtime to prevent sticking of eyes in morning.

if your eyelids have any swelling or redness you may need antibiotic course & TAB.COMBIFLAM thrice a day after food for 3 days.

It is equally important to avoid spreading this infection to your loved ones in family. avoid sharing towels & pillow or bed or spectacles with others.

I hope this helps. This is Dr.Satyam Bhavsar, MBBS. Happy to help you!
